New product brochure: REDCOR® weathering steel welded beams and columns
BlueScope has released a new Welded Beams and Columns Brochure featuring welded sections made from REDCOR® weathering steel.
Complementing the XLERPLATE® steel Welded Beams and Columns Brochure, this additional brochure provides designers with an essential reference for the latest product availability, section properties, manufacturing tolerances and quality assurance information about BlueScope's standard range of Welded Beams and Columns made from REDCOR® steel.
Designed for applications including pedestrian, road and rail bridge structures, REDCOR® weathering steel welded beams and columns are available in a range of sizes and are manufactured to the requirements of Australian Standard AS/NZS 3679.2:2016 under a strict quality system certified to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2015.
The brochure provides details of the available plate grades used to manufacture REDCOR® weathering steel welded beams and columns, including AS/NZS 3678-WR350L20B MOD 400 and AS/NZS 3678-WR350L20Z35B MOD 400. As weathering steel welded beams are not currently listed as a standard grade within AS/NZS 3679.2, BlueScope uses modified plate grades derived from AS/NZS 3678. These grades provide mechanical properties equivalent to AS/NZS 3679.2 Grade 400 sections, while offering enhanced strength characteristics compared with the base AS/NZS 3678-WR350B® weathering steel grade.
The brochure outlines BlueScope’s comprehensive product quality and conformity processes, including ongoing factory production control, product testing and independent third-party certification from ACRS (Australian Certification Authority for Reinforcing and Structural Steels). These processes underscore BlueScope’s commitment to quality and reliability, while giving designers and asset owners additional confidence in the compliance of the welded sections they receive.
It includes dimensions and section properties, section capacity assessment tables, design and detailing information, dimensional and weld tolerances, and details of pre-camber availability. The inclusion of pre-camber information provides designers with greater flexibility and additional options when developing solutions for their projects.
