Investing in the future of COLORBOND® steel
More than 60 years after COLORBOND® steel first transformed Australian building design, BlueScope continues to invest in the technology and capability behind this iconic Australian product.
At Western Port, Victoria, more than $50 million has been invested in upgrading the Continuous Paint Line No. 2 (CPL2) ovens and incinerator. The project is improving operational performance while delivering significant environmental benefits, including a 78% reduction in natural gas consumption per tonne of painted product and around 18,000 tonnes of CO2-e reduction in greenhouse gas emissions each year.
But this story is about more than technology. It's about the people behind COLORBOND® steel.
In this short video, hear directly from the Western Port team as they share their pride in manufacturing this iconic Australian product. Their stories reflect the values that have helped shape the COLORBOND® steel brand for more than six decades – Australian manufacturing, skilled expertise, strong community connections and generations of families who have worked at the site.
Through continued investment in people, manufacturing excellence and sustainability improvements, BlueScope is strengthening the long-term capability and future of COLORBOND® steel manufacturing in Australia.
